Music Education and Other Ways Of Earning in Music

If you are a musician then I am sure that you understand just how difficult it is to make money within this field. It seems that there is not much middle ground to be found in this industry and on one side you have the super stars who make albums, make millions of dollars and make their living playing to huge audiences, and on the other side you have the struggling musician, forced to take a job they hate to pay the bills.

I would always recommend that if you are a musician, that you focus hard on that and find ways in which you can earn through your skill. If you are in need of inspiration, here are just a few ways that you can earn through your music.

Teaching

Music education is something which many people are more than happy to pay for, especially when it comes to mastering a new instrument. If you are able to play an instrument or sing well, you can use these skills to help others to do the same, and make some money as you do so. Music tutors can actually make pretty good money by the hour and the only downside is that there is often alleger gaps in between classes. You can teach one to one by going to people’s house or you could even use the internet to teach people all over the world.

Busking

Believe it or not, buskers can make a good amount of money if they have a good spot, and of course, some talent. If you want to busk and you are able to find a busy spot where you can do it, you could easily make $40- $50 per day, which is more than some jobs can offer. You will need to get a permit before you are allowed to busk but once you have secured it, all you need to do is find a great place to play, be creative and watch the money come in. You won’t become rich by busking but you can definitely make some extra cash.

Tutorials

When someone wants to learn a new instrument, or how to understand music, they invariably go straight to YouTube and look for videos which can help them out, providing you with a money making opportunity. If you can upload some videos to YouTube giving tutorials on how to play music, read music or any other music related subject, you could make a good living through advertising revenue. the key to gaining popularity of your video is to spread the message all over social media so that you can begin to drum up support. Share your videos on relevant music forums and social media pages and you could see plenty of people flocking to watch your videos. Make sure that you are confident, speak slowly and ultimately that you offer something which people can learn from if you want to make money from your YouTube videos.
