B4MD – MEMPHIS Screening: Wednesday, October 25

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Heads up down in MEMPHIS. We’re partnering up with the Memphis Chapter of The Recording Academy and Grammy University to bring a great screening event to Academy members and the local Memphis community. Next Wednesday at the Studio on the Square (2105 Court Avenue) B4MD will screen as part of a “Make Music, Don’t Get Played” workshop and screening party. At 5:30, there will be a great panel that focuses on new paths of music distribution – a must for artists looking to connect with their rightful audiences and anyone interested in the topic. At 7:30, we’ll screen B4MD and charge up the crowd… filmmaker Joel Rasmussen will also appear to conduct Q&A and share tales from the road while making the film with Andrew Shapter.

Please not that if you want to attend this event, you MUST RSVP to Memphis@grammy.com , or call the Memphis Chapter of The Academy at 901.525.1340. Admission is FREE to Academy members, and $5.99 for the general public… that includes the workshop and the screening.

Hope to see you there.

B4MD – SEATTLE Screening: Tuesday, October 24

Tuesday, October 24th, 2006

Hey all – Steve from Bside here again. Here it comes… I promised more screening information and here is the first of many on the way. Soon we’ll have mechanism for all of you to go to the main B4MD web site and find a screening near you. I’ll announce that when it’s ready, but for now keep looking for these updates.

If you live in or around Seattle, head to Nectar Lounge (412 N 36th Street in the Fremont neighborhood) for a real celebration next Tuesday night October 24 th at 9pm. Our friends at SGTV/Soul Gorilla are putting on a “Screening and dance party reception” with Seattle hip hop pioneer DJ Supreme playing “the best joints you’ll never hear on Clear Channel Radio” and a LIVE PERFORMANCE by the Goody Bagg band – a beloved Seattle funk collective.

We love the way the SGTV crew discusses B4MD in their promotion materials:

“Too often in our native hip-hop pioneering trailblazing in other musical genres are seen only for the value of sampling. The crowds which populate our events are programmed by the playlisting of our musical tastes, and a financial two-step always ensues between being original and pleasing the masses. This film takes undercurrents on display in every music scene in the world, and flushes them into your conscious thought. Before the voices die, before the soul reincarnates in another human activity, we aim to save even a small piece by trying organic attempts to promote, distribute and display great music even when it is not convenient…”

Amen. Nectar Lounge web site is a http://www.nectarlounge.com. Be there.
