West Virginia Wesleyan College “Before the Music Dies” Screening

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

At 7pm on April 24, 2007 there will be a screening of the critically acclaimed documentary, Before the Music Dies. The screening will be taking place in Hyma Auditorium on the campus of West Virginia Wesleyan College in Buckhannon, WV. Following the screening, attendees will be invited to stay for a panel discussion of the themes discussed in the film.

This ground-breaking film tells the story of American music at a precarious moment–one where a small group of companies control so much of the music played on the radio and for sale at retail stores. Filmmakers Andrew Shapter and Joel Rasmussen traveled the country, hoping to understand why mainstream music seems so packaged and repetitive, and whether corporations really had the power to silence musical innovation. At the heart of Before the Music Dies are interviews with musicians, industry insiders, music critics, and fans that reveal how music has reached this moment of truth. Before the Music Dies will renew your passion for great music, and inspire you to play an active part in its future.

The screening is being sponsored in part by the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, Kappa Zeta Chapter.
