Nashville, TN: Free Screening, 12/6, 7pm, Before the Music Dies

The Federal Communications Commission, the government body that decides who gets to own radio and TV stations in Tennessee and beyond, is coming to Nashville on December 11th! Before they decide whether or not they should allow big companies — like Clear Channel, Gannett, and General Electric — to own more of our nation’s print and broadcast media, they want to hear from you on how media consolidation will affect your family and community.

Get ready to speak out on December 11th at this fun, free screening of Before the Music Dies, a music and musician-filled study of how consolidated media has limited and silenced the diverse cultural voices of this country!

The screening, Wednesday, December 6th, starts at 7pm, at the Belcourt Theatre, 2102 Belcourt Avenue, Nashville, TN 37212. It’s free and open to the public!

The screening will open with some basic facts about media ownership and how you can speak out for your rights at the FCC hearing on December 11th. We’ll also watch 2 short films on how communities are building their own media outlets and taking back their voices for churches, musicians, schools, social justice groups and more across the United States!
